Destination: #Jet2Sunchester
Last month, Jet2 invited me for an afternoon of sunshine and fun in Sunchester! Curiouser and curiouser, I had to go find out what all the fuss was about.
With my boarding pass in hand, I made my way to Sunchester. The traffic was busy in Leeds that day and just like the White Rabbit, I was thinking to myself;
I’m late, I’m late. For a very important date. No time to say “Hello, Goodbye”, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.
Thankfully, I managed to get out of the gridlock, turned around and found an alternative route!
If you’ve never heard of Sunchester before, you can easily get there from Yorkshire, by crossing the Pennines and going Down the Rabbit Hole (also known as the Trans-Pennine Railway Tunnels). Don’t forget your ticket though. 😉
Sunchester was, at least for a day, a land full of wonder and sunshine in Manchester, where Jet2 hosted an experience for bloggers to explore some of their favourite destinations in Europe.
Check-in
On arrival I checked-in with my #Jet2Sunchester boarding pass and was provided with information and vouchers to explore and taste the delights of the Wonderland that was, Sunchester! I’m a bit of a foodie, so you can imagine I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat! 😉
It was a little like entering a Mad Tea-Party, with lots of tempting food, drinks and strangely wonderful characters!
Who stole all the tarts? 😉
#Jet2Sunchester destinations
There were three main locations to explore (Majorca, Malta and Tenerife) and lots of things to do! I bumped into Emma Hart from Paper Planes and Caramel Waffles and because she has a love of beaches and I quite fancied some R&R, we headed straight to the chill-out beach area with our welcome drink in hand, to relax with other bloggers on the deck chairs. Yes, sitting around in a deckchair in the sunshine is something I could get used to. Let’s face it, we haven’t experienced many warm temperatures in the UK, so far this year.

Dreaming as the days go by.”
Majorca
I’ve been to Majorca, many years ago as a child, with family. It was really interesting to hear what is now on offer there.
BH Mallorca
We went to visit BH Mallorca; there was a fab bar and lounge area in the corner and we placed our orders for one of BH Mallorca’s top three selling cocktails; Bellini, Cosmopolitan and Raspberry Mojito. We both decided on a mojito. Who wouldn’t? I mean, just look at them! 🙂
BH Mallorca is located in Magalluf and opened in the summer of 2015. It’s a resort for those over 18yrs who love to party. There are three “experiences” within the hotel grounds:
- The Stage: this area hosts festivals headlined by some of the world’s biggest DJs.
- Water Park Twisted: according to BH Mallorca, this is the world’s first adult-only water park.
- Island Beach Club: billed as Majorca’s new daytime destination.
Sol Katmandu
Sol Katmandu Park and Resort is also in Magalluf and is targeted at families with lots of adventurous activities to keep everyone entertained. This is definitely the type of place my 8yr old nephew, George would enjoy visiting with his dad – heck, I’d tag along too! 🙂
Malta
Malta is a destination I haven’t yet visited but there is certainly lots that appeals to me, lots of natural beauty, 9 UNESCO sites to explore and a range of adventure activities on offer. I was also told about the up-and-coming festival scene in Malta, that aims to appeal to a younger segment.
Tenerife
I’ve visited Tenerife a couple of times, as a teenager and in my 20s. I really love the island and previously enjoyed exploring Teide National Park. Tenerife is definitely a destination I would love to return to.
Hotel Botanico
I went along to explore what was on offer from Hotel Botanico, in Puerto De La Cruz, Tenerife. We all got really pampered, with massages and nail treatments. I’m not usually one for painting my nails, so it was nice to take some time out and have someone look after me for a change! 🙂
Get in the mood for summer!
The afternoon with Jet2 was a lot of fun and reminded me just how convenient it is fly to these destinations, especially from regional airports. In fact, I can fly direct to Majorca, Malta and Tenerife with Jet2 from my local, Leeds Bradford Airport.
Thanks to Jet2 and The Studio, Manchester for hosting a fun event! Read more about the event (and see more photos) on the Jet2 blog.
If you could pick one of the above destinations to visit, which one would it be and why?
