The Yorkshire Sculpture Park: a world away from city-life!
Spring is such a great time to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park! It is less than half an hour away from Leeds and just around the corner from Wakefield. It’s not only a beautiful space for art lovers, it’s also a nature lover’s paradise with 500 acres of glorious Yorkshire countryside.
My first visit to the park was with a friend in 2014; this time I explored the park with my brother, Neil and my nephew, George.
Exploring nature
As much as I love the many art installations, my main reason for visiting the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is usually to escape city-life and explore the natural environment.
Exploring the sculptures
There is always something new to see in the Park and I do love the open air displays. One of my current favourite displays is by KAWS (Brian Donnelly).
KAWS
This is the first UK museum exhibition of work by the renowned American artist KAWS, whose wide ranging practice includes painting, sculpture, graphic design, toys and prints. The expansive Longside Gallery features the artist’s large, bright, graphic canvases immaculately rendered in acrylic paint, alongside towering sculptures in fibreglass and wood. The historically designed landscape of YSP becomes home to a series of monumental and imposing sculptures in KAWS’s trademark style – nostalgic characters in the process of growing up.

KAWS’ work is on display until June 12th 2016.
